Mariah is a young artist currently living in Philadelphia where she is an apprentice at the Arden Theatre Company. Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Mariah has passions in acting, dancing, choreography, and writing, and she constantly enjoys combining all of these and creating new and exciting work.
She received her BA in Drama and English from Vassar College in 2017. As a member of Woodshed Theater Ensemble for four years, Mariah collaborated with the rest of the group on seven different shows in various capacities including directing, light design, movement, and writing. She also continued her love for dance and choreography while being a member of two student-run dance groups, FlyPeople and HYPE.
Mariah's passion for leadership has evolved over the years into a love for teaching. She has worked with Explo at Yale for three summers teaching high school students. Mariah has taught classes on writing, public speaking, hip-hop, and modern dance. Outside of her summers, she worked as a dance instructor at two different locations in the Chicago suburbs during the 2017-2018 season. Mariah was also a teaching artist with two different Chicago theater groups, the Shakespeare All-Stars and Imagination Theatre, where she was apart of the touring ensembles and performed with other teaching artists at schools around the Chicagoland area. She has experience teaching students three years old to adult.

America's Best Emerging Poets
Catch one of Mariah's poems "The Ugliest Poem I Can Give You," in the new anthology from Z Publishing. Here's a quick blurb from the company.
"There is a troubling catch-22 that exists in the world of publishing: in order to be published—at least by any of the major houses—you must already have been published. Inevitably, this cycle leaves the aspiring writer with the pressing question of where to begin. This is why, in the winter of 2017, we started our "Emerging Poets" series—to showcase the work of talented poets who may otherwise not have had the opportunity.
Nearly 16 months later, those efforts have culminated in our most ambitious project to date. In America's Best Emerging Poets, 144 of our favorite up-and-coming poets (representing all 50 states) have the chance to share their words. Covering a wide array of topics ranging from love and heartbreak, family and friendship, the inherent beauty of nature, and so much more, these young talents will amaze you. Containing one poem per poet, this anthology is a compelling introduction to the great wordsmiths of tomorrow."
